Journey through Martinborough

The Runholder is home to Te Kairanga & Martinborough Vineyard.

Discover two of Martinborough’s pioneering wineries. Enjoy your favourite by the flight, glass, or bottle.

The Runholder is the only place you’ll find rare, new release and library wines from these iconic Martinborough producers.

Te Kairanga

Planted on land originally farmed by Martinborough’s founder, Te Kairanga is central to the Martinborough wine story.

Planted in 1984 on land originally owned by John Martin, Martinborough’s founder, our philosophy blends history and the future: a sustainable search for the ultimate expression of Martinborough.

John Kavanagh carefully crafts Pinot Noir along with small parcels of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling, showcasing the abundance of Martinborough.

Crafted from the best parcels from the original landholdings, our Runholder, John Martin & WPF wines are the finest expressions of Te Kairanga and our special Martinborough terroir.

Martinborough Vineyard

The Home Block is where it all began back in 1980 and our quest to perfect Martinborough’s venerable style continues today.

Martinborough Vineyard planted Wairarapa’s very first Pinot Noir vines in 1980. This same visionary approach continues today as we craft our iconic wines with artisanal techniques and dedication to the land, earning us a continuous reputation for excellence.

Winemaker Paul Mason’s pursuit of perfection starts in the vineyard and can be found in every structured, balanced, nuanced glass of Home Block.

Made with the same handcrafted discipline, Te Tera wines are an expressive, vivid and eloquent interpretation of New Zealand’s most venerable wine regions.
