Te Kairanga
Planted on land originally farmed by Martinborough’s founder, Te Kairanga is a cornerstone of the Martinborough wine story.
Planted in 1984 on land once owned by John Martin, Martinborough’s founding father, Te Kairanga carries the legacy of the region in its very soil. But while their roots run deep, their vision is firmly set on the future.
Today under the guidance of Head Winemaker John Kavanagh, Te Kairanga continues to evolve, with a focus on fully realising the potential of this remarkable place. Winemaking is future-focused, innovative, and deeply expressive of Martinborough’s unique terroir. John Kavanagh carefully crafts Pinot Noir along with small parcels of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling, showcasing the abundance of Martinborough.
Crafted from the best parcels from the original landholdings, Te Kairanga Runholder, John Martin & WPF wines are the finest expressions of our special Martinborough terroir. But more than terroir, it’s the quiet character of a region captured in every bottle. It is this that makes Te Kairanga wines rich in nature, abundant in taste.
